Conveyors
You'll find reliable Orthman Conveying Systems' screw conveyors hard at
work in a broad range of applications; handling everything from alfalfa
meal to zinc oxide. Screw conveyors serve the manufacturing industry in a
wide variety of applications: conveying, distributing, collecting, mixing,
heating, cooling, elevating, batching, blending, aerating, and providing
crystallization or coagulant action.
Belt Conveyors
Materials from fine powders to large, lumpy stones can be handled on a
belt conveyor. Conveyor belts are used in a wide variety of material
transport applications such as manufacturing, food processing, and heavy
industry.
Belt
construction and materials are often application-specific. Belt materials
and configurations vary for such specific uses as roofing shingle
conveying, quarry gravel transport, and a very wide variety of others.
Commercial applications include:
- Agricultural
- Construction - heavy building materials
- Food and beverage processing
- Forestry - logging, sawmill, paper pulp, etc.
- Mining and quarrying
- Factory production line

Bucket Elevators
Bucket elevators are designed to move flowing powders or bulk solids
vertically. Bucket elevators use an endless belt or chain have a series of
buckets attached to it filled with material. Bulk material is spread into
an inlet hopper. Buckets (or cups) dig into the material and convey it up
and over the head sprocket/pulley, and then throw the material out a
discharge throat.
Bucket elevators are not self-feeding, and are fed at a controlled rate.
The buckets are usually where the chain or belt path is vertical or
steeply inclined in a single plane. The buckets are returned back down to
a tail pulley or sprocket at the bottom.
There are four broad classifications of bucket elevators: centrifugal,
continuous, positive, and internal discharge. The most commonly used are
the centrifugal and continuous discharge elevators.
Orthman Conveying Systems' Industrial Bucket Elevators are made in a
variety of shapes, weights and sizes, all utilizing centrifugal bucketsor
continuous buckets.
Gates
Discharge gates are used in single or multiple locations within the
conveyor system, depending on the bulk materials handled. there are three
basic types of discharge gates:
- Manual
- Electric
- Pneumatic (air-operated)
Gates regulate the flow on the conveyor, discharge materials at any
given point in the conveyor, and accurately cut off (or shut) for scale
feeding operations.
